GoGEO Research Findings to Be Summarized at Esri’s Education User Conference in 2017:
IntegraShare Solutioneering’s Gus and Ellen Nodwell will be presenting with our Texas A&M University co-investigators, Dr. Andrew Klein and Dr. Daniel Goldberg, in a short overview of the findings from our Texas A&M Geography Department’s GoGEO Research project.
The Texas A&M GoGEO project surveyed Oil & Gas GIS leaders in the first ever educational needs assessment of this industry.
Information about geospatial products and practices, success factors that make graduates attractive hires, and issues affecting career success was collected. GoGEO documented the dominance of Esri technologies, the criticality of workplace-ready attitudes, soft skills, and internships. In our GoGEO investigation, we conducted in person interviews in a survey of Oil and Gas Industry GIS thought leaders during 2016, then analyzed the results. The research findings were delivered to Texas A&M in mid-December of 2016 by the IntegraShare team.
Lessons learned from this project can be applied to education planning for other sectors.
Our presentation is on Sunday, July 09th in the 3:15 pm – 4:30 pm Session, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in the La Costa Conference Room.
We hope to see you there or around the Esri UC all week – please reach out if you want to chat about the findings of our study!
